Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice but not true to size! Over the last 13 yrs I've been tracking my daughter's growth (and any other child that has come through my house!) on a wall that I've painted around several times that it's gotten ridiculous. So I finally decided to trace all the lines, dates and names to transfer over to something that can be moved. I thought this was the perfect solution. Measurements say 72", numbers on the ruler say 1-6, positive reviews and and an afternoon spent transferring every single, date, name and line I've come to realize the numbers are not true to size. HUGE oversight on my part. Sooo disappointed. Now hubs is going to sand it down and we're back to square one. My fault, not Kirkland's but a little fine print notation stating "Not true to size" would have helped those of us who are a wee bit dense at times. Aside from the measurements, I would not have paid full price for this. Bought it with a coupon and free shipping. It's average at best. April 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great gift! I bought three of these to give as gifts. Two were to expectant parents (first and second babies). The first couple is renting a home so they can take the ruler with them when they finally purchase their home. This is a great gift for a couple expecting a second or third child...very unique for a family that may already have a lot of baby stuff. And the third ruler is going to my daughter and son-in-law as a house warming gift. They are newlyweds and are building a house. I think this will be perfect! April 4, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Looks good The wood is bowed so it can't hang straight on the wall. Otherwise it's nicely done and the price is good. January 13, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Lovely piece and good value for money. Lovely piece for the house, great for measuring the kids. Wanted a sturdy piece to pass on to the children to measures their kids and it really fits the bill. One of the few pieces that really look better in person. Very pleased with this product worth the money. November 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It's adorable! I had my eye on this for a while!Glad I finally made the purchase! The color of this oversized ruler is perfect and will blend well with pretty much any colors in any room and the size will fit well even in small wall space! October 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Grandmother's Memory I purchased the 6 foot wall tape measure as a gift for my grandsons. They do not live close to me as my other grandchildren do and I cannot watch them grow. As my son marks each step of their growth on the board, it gives me insight to their development that I am missing. There are times when I have been too ill to be around anyone, sadly even my grandchildren. Seeing their little heads leaning against the board puts a smile on my face! What a wonderful gift for them to pass on to their children's children to make their special mark on it as well. October 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love how rustic this product is. Ideal for keeping track of the children's growth through the years and it is easy to move when we move! Love how rustic this product is..... October 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent and made for memories This well made ruler is perfect for measuring the heights of our growing boys. They enjoy seeing how tall they are and marking that area with their name and date. It's a lasting memory that we can take anywhere with us from house to house. I have to comment on the price. It was the cheapest I had seen and for the quality, you couldn't beat it. Highly recommend to all. October 27, 2015

Answer:
The 16 marks on the ruler between each foot represent the 16th's of an inch on a ruler. You bought the thing because it looked like a ruler, so in order to look like a ruler it must have 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 markings. (half, fourths, eighths and sixteenths# If you want to have the hash marks equal to an inch the design would not translate to your eye to appear as a ruler and it would look exactly like a height/growth chart and would probably not give the look you are looking for. The 1/4 and 1/2 markings on the device as designed will still represent 1/4 and 1/2 of a foot so you could quickly say someone is X and 1/2 feet tall just glancing at the markings, however X' 1", X' 2", X' 4" X' 5", X' 7", X' 8", X' 10" and X' 11" will need to be marked or measured with an actual ruler or tap measurer. HOWEVER, the designer could have laid it out having the most narrow has marks be 1 inch apart like most people are assuming and expanded the width of the 3rd, 6th, and 9th hash marks as the 1/4 and 1/2 inch marks on a ruler to visually appear to be the same as a ruler and avoid getting into the 1/8 and 1/16 hash marks which seem to be causing the problems because they do not line up with a 1/12 of an inch. You would still get people picking nits about "rulers don't have 1/12 of an inch on them" but then at least more of the hash marks would line up with the intended purpose of the device. It is still a functional decoration. We like it.

Yes, part of the bottom is cut off, I assume that is for you to hang it on a wall and not have the wall trim get in the way.

Answer:
Yes, I measured using a commercial measuring tape. It should be noted that the measurements start at 4 inches which allows for mounting above a standard baseboard.

Answer:
Yes the measurments are accurate. If you look there isnt quite a foot between the bottom of the piece and the 1. This is to take into account that this product is supposed to be hung on the wall and that most people have baseboards in their home. This is to allow you to hang this over the baseboards and still get an accurate measurement. Everyone saying that the measurements are not accurate A. are not using the product like it is supposed to be (hung) or B. not thinking things all the way through. I hope you enjoy this piece it is great!

Answer:
I'm not sure if the numbers are a true foot apart, but the hash marks can't represent inches. There are 12 inches in a foot. This ruler has the 16 hash marks as a smaller ruler measuring inches would, not feet. While the numbers may actually be a foot apart, it would be hard to translate into inches. Very disappointing.
