Cute Curtains but Beware the Smell I was so excited to get these curtains hung. They look great in my living room. However, the morning after we hung them, I woke up smelling a god awful smell. It smelled like gas, and I hurried and got my infant and toddler outside and called my husband. He immediately had me call the fire department, since it smelled like gas, and was the strongest in the living room where our fireplace is. Fire department came, searched the whole house with a reader. It didn't find anything, but like me, they all (6 of them) smelled it too and were worried. After about an hour there wasn't anything left they could do, so they left. I opened all windows (in 30* temps no less) to get the smell out. My husband came home, started checking around, and realized it was the curtains putting off the smell. The window is facing the south and was in full sun which heated the curtains to put off the odor. If they weren't so awesome looking, I would have taken them back in a heartbeat. Instead, I ignored the care instructions and washed them and they have been fine since. February 28, 2013

They aren't supposed to be, but I did wash mine. I just had to take a tooth brush and brush off the build up on the metal from after.
