Rated 3 out of 5 by from There was no blue and gray wash... it was just brown One of the reasons I purchased this lamp was because of the beautiful greenish-blue wash that the finish of the base has in the pictures. It arrived today (with with way too much packaging, I might add... the box was enormous with excessive packing materials.) As soon as I saw it I was disappointed.... brown. A nice, classic brown (almost driftwoodish) but no hint of a color wash on it. Before I even assembled it fully, I got out my craft paint in an aqua color and mixed it with water to make my own color wash. About 5 minutes later, it looked exactly as it does in the pictures but, really, I shouldn't have to color wash my own lamp. Also, while the base is great (color, aside), the hardware parts seemed a bit poorly made. Things aren't quite fitting together right, etc... Once assembled (and painted), it is a beautiful lamp and I'm very pleased with it.... just annoyed that 1. there was WAY too much packaging, 2. I had to color wash it myself and 3. the hardware wasn't lining up properly and took a bit of time to get it all straight. Once I invested some time in it, however, I adore the lamp.

What kind of on/off mechanism does this lamp have? Pull chain? Switch? Is it located on the lamp or on the cord?

Asked by: JDHM
It has a little plastic knob that you turn to the right (like on most lamps). It's not on the cord but on the lighting kit attached to the base (that holds the light bulb.)
