its not a flaw.... IIII
Its a great looking Clock... not what I was looking for wanted something that size with a black rustic sanded edge but couldn't find one so bought this...all in all it is a nice looking clock I just was wanting something more rustic with a black frame. I see in several reviews that they thought the numeral 4 on the clock as IIII was a flaw in the clock - however after research here is the reason it is IIII instead of IV- borrowed from the Electric time Company....WHY DO SOME CLOCKS USE ROMAN NUMERAL IIII?
There does not seemed to be a definitive reason why the number four is represented by IIII rather than IV, but it is how the dials on tower clocks have been done for centuries.
Possible reasons include:
IV was commonly used to notate the Roman god Jupiter (in Latin, Ivpiter), and the numeral IIII was used to differentiate
Visually, IIII forms better symmetry with the VIII on the other side of the clock; as well as creating radial symmetry in that only I appears in the first four hours, V only appears in the second four hours, and X only appears in the last four hours
IV is oddly positioned and difficult to read from the normal angle where four appears
Romans simply preferred IIII as they largely avoided subtraction

Perfect
Beautiful. Bold numbers, so easy to read from a distance. The face is a neutral creamy beige marble look. Easy to hang. Just need a mounting screw and a battery, then you’re all set.

Works well above my fireplace
I was looking for a big clock to go over my fireplace (the fireplace is brick that's been painted an antique white color) and this fit the bill. The clock is plastic, so don't expect it to be metal, but it doesn't look like it's plastic or cheap. It looks great over the brick and is now a statement piece that didn't cost me a fortune. In fact I got it on sale, so that made it even better!

This clock DID NOT WORK and that sucks
I gave this clock as a Christmas gift for my brother. I gave it to him last weekend. He liked the design, but said the clock does not work. I just got the clock and checked it myself with a new battery. It did not work. Now this is a BIG clock andI do not have the cardboard that the clock came in. My brother threw it out. How should I return this clock? Call me with the answer.

Great value
This is our 2nd time purchasing this clock. We love it. It is large and substantial over our mantel and it's a great addition to our living room. We looked for another clock to give as a gift and we had trouble finding one we liked. Then we found this one still available (4 years later). It's a great clock at an incredible price!!

Beautiful Clock
I got this and absolutely love it. I read the comments about IIII versus IV, and I never noticed until today that my Grandfather Clock, which is almost 30 years old, also has IIII for the number 4.
Look it up, it is just a variation of the number 4 and is NOT a defect.

The perfect clock!
I have had a small clock on my den wall for years and was contemplating hanging blank frames around the clock to fill the area. However, when I saw this clock, I could not imagine anything more perfect. It's big and fills area perfectly. Love it!!
