Metropolitan Kitchen Island with Wine Rack 4 5 1 1
Difficult to assemble; beautiful when finished My girlfriend and I recently purchased this island for our 1BR apartment. It looks beautiful in our space and works well in our kitchen, both aesthetically and functionally. We've had friends over who immediately gravitate towards it as a social place to stand around and eat/drink. Two caveats. First, it is not easy to assemble at all. The directions are difficult to understand and we had to undo a lot of steps in order to make pieces fit later in the process. Total, we probably spent 5-6 hours assembling. Second, the tracks that hold the wine glasses hanging upside down are VERY narrow, requiring wine glasses with a very small circumference to fit in the tracks. We haven't found any small enough yet. This is very disappointing as the wine glasses were part of the attractive aesthetic appeal. Still, a nice piece for a decent price. August 19, 2013

back side view

Does the back side mirror the front? if not, how does it appear?

Do you need to place the shelving in for the wine bottles or can the space be open?

Back side

Is the back if the island a mirror of the front? Ex: does the cabinet open from either side and do the drawers open from either side? If you do not to store wine, do the panels come out? Thank you!
