Clear out all the hand towels and bath mats you're currently using and replace them with matching sets in a different, bolder color. Try something out of your comfort zone. For instance, in a bathroom that is mostly white or cream colored, try mats and towels in a deep purple or a bold turquoise. Bathrooms tend to be monotonous in their color schemes, and white seems to be the prevailing color. Using your towels and mats to add a bold accent color is an easy way to change the entire look while only changing a few tiny details.
Decorating Tip #2: Grab A Paint Brush
Why renovate when you can simply repaint? Since the bathroom tends to be one of the smaller rooms in the house, it won't take nearly as much paint as other rooms like bedrooms or the living room. The average bathroom could be completely repainted with 1-2 gallons of paint, meaning you could change the entire look of your bathroom for under $50! As far as color ideas, decide how you want your bathroom to feel and choose a color based on that. If you don't like the wainscoting idea, you can simply add white decorative moulding to the middle of your walls to break up the room's solid color. The bathroom is full of accent opportunities that can change up the look of the room with very little effort. You can add small, decorative mirrors to the walls to help amplify the available light. You can also add towel hooks, cute wall plaques, and other bathroom wall decor to create a cozy and comfortable space. Another easy addition to make is to utilize candles on your countertops. For instance, you can take a decorative bowl and group several pillars and votives together in it, then fill the bowl with smooth stones or seashells. (Just make sure your filler isn't flammable.)
