by TxMama007 Exactly what I wanted.
The Grady Wide Shelf Floor Lamp was the exact unique piece I was looking for to fit my space. Assembly was quick and easy, with clear instructions provided and once assembled and plugged in the lamp provides an elegant and functional purpose.

I love this lamp! It is much wider than all the others I have seen of this shelf-lamp style. I needed it to 1) hold the things I want close at hand to my recliner and 2) a strong reading lamp. This provided both. Of all the shelf-lamps I've seen, this was the only one to allow more than a 60-watt bulb (it allows 150-watts) and, since it above my chair it almost seems like sunlight. The shelving prevents any overhead glare so it is nice and bright but still softly diffused by the rice-paper-light panels that surround the bulb. The unit is really sturdy--there is no rocking from side to side and each shelf holds 6 pounds so you can put books, etc. on them.
Also, I needed some help and customer service went out of their way to assist me. I was very, very impressed!

We ordered two of these lamps to go on each side of our white entertainment center. We mainly ordered for shelving, but the lamps are an added bonus. The design on the shade adds a nice ambience to our family room. Easy to construct and very sturdy in my opinion.

The shelf floor lamp is rather flimsily made, so if you are hoping for a functional, sturdy, heavy-duty shelf-- look elsewhere. If you just need something to light a room and provide place for a few decorative accents, this could fit the bill. I've put one in my dining room, in a low-traffic area. It is a little wobbly, but as I don't anticipate it being touched often (and hopefully not knocked into!), I think it will work for the space.
I ordered two; I was able to assemble one with no problems, but the pieces for the second were badly damaged (mainly the four panels used for the lampshade). Customer Service was readily willing to accept the damaged lamp and send a new one (once the receive the damaged one), but I admit I'm a bit annoyed that I have to box it up and haul it to the nearest UPS store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by TNelly Love the look & the shelves
We purchased this floor lamp to replace a small table & lamp that kept getting knocked over. It was for a small area next to a recliner. I love being able to put my coffee or remote on the stand - so much room! The lamp looks great in our family room. Already gotten complements of how pretty & cool it is. Love, love, love the chain pull. I hate trying to fumble around looking for the light switch on a lamp.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Dawnaindc Looks nice but very dim
This item was billed as a shelf. Each "shelf" has a weight limit of only 6 pounds?! Ever weigh hard back books? It's hard to call a six pound weight limit a shelf. I was very disappointed on that. Sure, the lamp is attractive in person, but hardly worth the additional floor space to be so disfunctional.
Secondly, the item required tedious assembly. There were over 20 pieces in the box and lots of screws to be hand tightened. There is no way to use a power tool to screw two pieces of mdf together. Some pieces were chipped or marred in the box. The scroll work was not cleanly cut. There is no way the "finish" will last long. Its paper thin and fragile enough that it was damaged in shipment. Of course, some flaws weren't noticed until after.
Lastly, the light output is dim. Even with a 100 watt bulb, the lamp is dimmer than a 40 watt lamp. The scroll work is very much like having an amber shade over the bulb. I wasn't expecting an open top lamp to be so difuse and barely there.
I will have to disassemble nearly 20 parts, put the lamp back in the box, and get the box back to Kirkland's. Considering the low quality materials, tedious construction, flaws, weight limit and lumen output this lamp was a poor purchase. I am so disappointed I will likely avoid Kirkland's in the future. Save your money.
