Elegant statement I bought this for my covered patio (away from direct sunlight) I asked the store manager and he said it should be fine since it's a coated metal. I wanted something to add depth instead of plain stucco walls but nothing to flashy to take away from nature. It was pretty in the store with the recess lights showing more of a "gold" antique highlights, but at home it's a very pretty aged copper in natural sunlight. It's stunning and sort of a timeless elegance. I like something "there but not there". It's impressive with my black ceiling fan and wrought iron patio furniture. The store manager used one as a queen headboard...it's the perfect dimensions to make a headboard out of it. I bet it would be pretty like that, too. For the price....it's very substantial for ANY room of your room. I'm as picky as they come...and I love it everywhere. April 30, 2013

Big and Beautiful !! This is hanging in my living room on the far side wall, and it is surprisingly light weight to be as big as it is. Hanging it was pretty easy, but we did have to anchor the bottom to the wall to keep it flush, but that was easy to do with two small screws. This piece is a great buy for a very impressive look. Beautiful over my fireplace Have 13 ft ceilings, almond colored walls and dark hardwood floors. Hung this over the mantle which is dark wood as well. Pulled the room together and draws attention to the beautiful ceilings. I have had many compliments! What a bargain that does so much for a room! January 26, 2013

Yes, you could hang it horizontally. Just check to see if you like the design as well. I wouldn't think it would make a difference. It just depends on what you like.
